Why Am I Here?
All
of us have wondered, from time to time, "Why am I here?". This can be,
for some people, a life long quest, with literally years spent trying to
determine just what "mission" they are on this earth to perform. This endless searching for
one's deep, hidden purpose is, in my view, quite a waste of one's time
and energies. I believe, just possibly, that I can save everyone years spent in this vain
pursuit. It seems to me that The Answer...The Truth, is actually very
simple and straight forward. THE reason
we are ALL here, every one of us, is to learn to love..., unequivocally, with no conditions. All the rest, as one of history's wisest men (do you know who? HINT: Ecclesiastes, Chapter 1) said, is
vanity...a complete waste of time. We are NOT here to be a success in
business or to write the next great novel or even to become known for
our supposed wisdom, although these and many other accomplishments may
be achieved as a result of learning and practicing our main purpose,
which is to love. Know also that pure love can not be achieved without
true forgiveness...toward others and, importantly, toward ourselves. In
forgiveness, we find the peace we are all searching for. Naturally, as
with all worthy virtues, forgiveness is HARD. It may well be the most
difficult challenge we will ever encounter. Yet we MUST meet this
challenge, if we are to ever "graduate" to a higher level of existence.
The dour alternative is to repeat the "class" over and over until we "get it". Those who fail are destined to have to suffer this
physical life again and again. Even if you believe we are saved by the
grace of Jesus, it does not disqualify you from completing your course
of study. God is indeed merciful, but we, nevertheless, are responsible
for our spiritual growth. So, now that we know WHY we are here, I
suggest we all focus our efforts toward the accomplishment of the task
at hand. The next time you are overcome by bitterness, anger, or
indignation, remember your assignment, and strive to re-arrange your heart. I can promise you that at least two things will be true...first, it'll be tough...second, you will be blessed.
Good luck, God Bless, and may peace be with you.
Until next time...
You say forgiveness is hard. I suppose for most it is hard. I find it to be simple....by simply asking God to put forgiveness in my heart and take away the pain and bitterness because I don't want or need them, and because I know I cannot do it on my own, because left to do it on my own I won't...because it's too dang hard! See....easy. :)
ReplyDeleteI, unfortunately, do find forgiveness difficult, but certainly not impossible. One reason I've sort of always had hope for my soul is that I am always able to forgive...eventually, though it is indeed a struggle for me. If you are able to simply hand your pain and bitterness over to God and instantly have it leave you, then you are indeed blessed and your faith, in that sense, is extraordinary. I do pray constantly to obtain forgiveness and to be able to forgive others. And, like you, I'd never be able to do it without God.
DeleteThanks, again, for sharing. I am gratified.
